Network Support Services
Network Support Services is an academically rigorous computer technology course. It combines extensive reading, memorizing, and test taking with hands-on activities that provide students the opportunity to practice real-world activities.
Students prepare to take industry level certifications such as, Cisco Certified Network Associate
(CCNA-routing and switching), A+ (building, maintaining and troubleshooting computers), Microsoft Office User (MOUS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Network+ (basic knowledge and networking skills) and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP-level one knowledge about Windows OS and configuration).
The course is primarily Windows based however; students are introduced to MAC OSX through a mentoring partnership with Apple. Core networking features are compared and contrasted; Students learn to set up domains, develop a plan of implementation, create users, and assign policy rights and permissions. The latest feature of Network Support Services is a partnership with Citrix and the concept of seamless remote access.
Incoming juniors elect this program as their technical career choice and devote three hours per day during their junior and senior years toward completing the Occupational Completion Points of Network Support Services, as indicated by the State of Florida Department of Education.
